About the Presenter:
Dr. Sane is currently a second year resident at the Ross Eye Institute, SUNY at Buffalo. She had completed her residency in ophthalmology, along with a fellowship in pediatric ophthalmology and strabismus at Aravind Eye hospital, Madurai, India. She is a member of the Royal College of Ophthalmology, London, and a fellow of the International Council of Ophthalmology.
As a research fellow Dr. Sane worked with Dr. Scott to study the effects of bupivacaine on the extraocular muscles for the treatment of strabismus. She was awarded the Certificate of Achievement by the Ross Eye Institute in recognition of outstanding performance for scoring 100 percentile in OKAP exam among the first year residents in ophthalmology in the US. After completion of her residency Dr. Sane plans to pursue a fellowship in cornea, lens and refractive surgery.
Dr. Sane has participated in many community outreach programs in rural parts of India for screening cataracts and other ocular diseases. She was an active team surgeon in performance of high volume cataract surgeries in India.
